Agreed - I’m acutely primed to have a deep aversion to ugly, sloppy code, procured under hasty conditions. Sadly, computational sciences deviate profusely from this sentiment, as yet. However, soon too they will drink the koolaid of enlightenment. The fields of Computational Biology / Systems Biology are relatively young, so there’s some (small but still difficult) level of forgiveness for select instances of rogue behaviour and crude practices .. for now. Code reviews should be part blood baths, anyways.
